I understand this but you cannot use ai art while supporting artists. All ai art models are trained from stolen work, taken from artist who either don't consent or canāt consent. I do get the limitations with time and abilities. I would just suggest try your best. Most people wonāt care if the art is subpar or unfinished, but they definitely will care if itās ai. It could impact what you do as a brush maker and ruin a reputation, especially since what youāre making is for artists. I really recommend trying to find some sort of alternative, as ai art is extremely harmful to the people who your products are for! Thank you for the transparency though, its extremely appreciated.

With all my heart, I have never been posed this question before. It's good to know what you as an artist think because it's probably a projection of the others. I'm so stuck into the hospital life and working with this to be able to finally finish medicine that I sometimes feel that I don't connect enough with my clients that is my main obligation. Thanks again. I will not only reconsider, but I will start from now on to avoid using it. One single opinion and one single person being hurt from the usage of AI is enough to make decisions. Thanks for taking the time to answer. Rest assured that none of my brushes are made with the help of AI, only the product covers because mine look like of a Childs. hahaha THANK YOU AGAIN!

Your statement that AI is trained on stolen work is an outright lie. No work was stolen. Millions upon millions of images are referenced. Not stolen. Nothing is taken, lost, or duplicated. The programs learned using all kinds of images, not only art. In fact, the AI models were not created with the intent to be used as an artistic tool. So the idea that art was stolen for use in these engines is entirely false and only spouted by the haters that are afraid they will become obsolete.

No its directly stolen. The creator of Studio Ghibli has directly spoken out about the Ghibli ai trend and publicly detests it and begs people to not use his art for ai, along with tons and tons of other artists. Please do some research friend, Iām only here to help.

If you are using AI art to showcase the abilities of brush products you created. That is directly false advertising. If you do not have the time to create your own marketing covers, then pay a REAL ARTIST to create them for you. Its extremely pathetic and sad that you, as an artist yourself, would decide to contribute to a machine that blatantly steals and strips away work from fellow artists and creators who would be able to help make your product look amazing by directly utilizing the brushes that you created.
Do better. Be Better.

Thank you, as I have mentioned before, I was never posed this question and competing with A LOT of creators that do use AI in various products, I never really gave it a thought. I have compromised that from now on I will not use it anymore. Also, as I've said, I am not an artist, I am a brush creator that uses this to generate my income so my art sucks but I will most definitely look for help. Thank you for opening my eyes to the problem, I need you to be sure I had absolutely no idea how hurtful it was for the community and even though having opened what ws not so obvious to my clients, now I can take the steps to change it. Thanks, again.

I'm sorry you are being pressured by these AI haters that are only spouting politicized false information. People should really educate themselves before attacking others.

i understand youāre busy but iād so much rather you just take extra time making the brush set so you can make a cover instead of using ai. like i (and most artists, who are your audience) cannot morally agree with you using ai art. personally, i wont be buying any brushes while you use ai art since ai art steals from artists and threatens jobs. most artists would feel the same, and anyone scrolling on gumroad for a brush would avoid ai art covers. i mean, ethical issues aside, you canāt even trust a product with them and someone is taking a risk by using them
plus, it feels like it falsely represents your product since it doesnāt actually represent the product.
i donāt know if you understand how much of a turnoff it is to use ai in your marketing, bc why would someone want to purchase an artistic tool that markets with ai? esp when without the context, most would assume the brushes are ai themselves.
i hope you rethink your decision because i unfortunately cannot support any shops that use ai art
Katelyn
i really do hope you feel better, and i hope your health issues resolve btw
iād personally much prefer a focus on the brushes themselves, and if it takes you extra time, thatās ok!! i think most people would agree! you could definitely find a way to communicate the mood and vibe of brushes without ai art
iām going to assume that you might not entirely be aware of how a lot of artists feel about ai art, and the ethics surrounding it so iām assuming best intentions here

I've already answered before and I, from the bottom of my heart, had no idea how much damage it causes to the community and will start from today on to update the thumbnails that I used with AI. Might be three, maybe four. Not a single brush was used with AI, and that everyone that knows my brushes can tell and defend their quality. I really appreciate everyone taking the time to explain why it's hurtful and from now on I will make sure it's no more :)

First, let me say that Iām sorry for all the trials youāve gone through. Cancer is a terrible thing, and I wish you all the best in your recovery. Secondly, I do have criticism, but I want you to know that the criticism is not an attack on you of any kind, rather me just sharing my thoughts.
So, this is going to sound harsh, but people are going to hate you for this. AI is a very volatile subject in the art community. Art is something that most of us have dedicated our entire lives to, and AI has recently come in and stolen jobs from us, stolen art from us, ruined opportunities, and made it even harder to live as an artist than it was before. Now itās borderline impossible to make a living wage doing art, because people would rather turn to machines that are cheaper to use and "work" faster than real artists. This has made us, as I hope you can understand, very angry. Itās unfair that our work is being stolen and fed into a machine. Itās unfair that our stolen work is being copied and turned into soulless amalgamations alongside other peopleās stolen work. Itās not fair that weāve spent our lives honing and refining our craft only to be cast aside in a manner of months in favor of an environment killing machine.
The thing is, you didnāt NEED to generate images to sell your brushes. You could have hired an artist. If you donāt have the money for that, you could have asked a newer artist to draw you a quick picture with them in exchange for some free brushes. There are plenty of more casual artists whoād be more than happy to do that. Hell, you could have just posted a screenshot of what they looked like as your cover image, and people wouldnāt have cared. You could have even posted a half-baked doodle with them, and again, nobody would care. But AI? AI is ruining our lives, and THAT is something we care about. Unfortunately, instead of solving a problem reasonably, and with care and concern for the people buying your products, you chose to utilize the very machines that are stealing from them.
Iām sure that there will be angry comments. When you read them, keep this in mind: The AI art you used to promote your brushes could have been trained off of real art stolen from the very people that bought your content in the first place. Youād feel betrayed too, wouldnāt you?
Thatās all I have to say. This is very disappointing, honestly, and I hope you treat your customers better going forward.

It truly hurts my heart that I let down the very community that helped me during the toughest times. I'm already crafting on my own the four products I used AI to generate the cover and it's going well, hopefully I can publish them again anytime soon! From now on I can give you my word I will never use it to generate marketing again, it makes complete sense and I feel really dumb not having noticed it before. I just hope more artists come forward and become transparent, I think if I never sent this post I would have continued using it for a very very long time without the notion of how much damage it causes. Thanks, again. Sorry for letting you down <3

Donāt beat yourself up too much, just make sure you do better going forward. Youāve already taken a step in the right direction by being transparent and taking steps to fix your mistakes. Itās how you handle those mistakes that defines you. (Also, Itās fine to make mistakes, itās what makes you human, and I think that humans are pretty cool š)
Again, wishing you the best with your health. Take care.
